Suzume opened on a quiet Williamsburg corner in 2013 with a simple promise: treat people well, serve quality food, and value being part of our community. Over a decade later, nothing has changed.
Specialties
We specialize in Hawaiian Asian inspired food. We are known for our pork ramen with braised pork shoulder in a savory tonkotsu broth, our refreshing bok choy peashoot salad tossed in a calamansi vinaigrette dressing, and crispy rice tuna and salmon. Our hearty, comfort meals are great after a long day of work or a quick bite and casual hang with friends. Happy Hour everyday! Sandwiches coming soon for lunch service.
History
Established in 2013. We specialize in Hawaiian inspired food that highlights an Asian fusion menu from cultures that inspire our love of food. Once known for sushi and fish tacos, the menu has progressed and adapted over the years. Whether it's sharing a meal with friends or enjoying time for yourself, we have savory small and large plates like our fried chicken rice bowl with pineapple macaroni salad, silky-spicy salmon miso ramen, or our refreshing poké bowls with diced raw fish and selected pairings with house-made sauces. We have a full service bar, with a list of specialty cocktails like our “Jiggly Caliente” made with Mezcal, Thai chili bird, and passion fruit. We are known to be a destination for pre-party and post-show vibes. From first dates, to families and friends visiting from out of town, to newborns and meeting pups, we love being part of your neighborhood, Brooklyn!
Meet the Business Owner
Philippines-born, American-raised. Immigrated to the US in the 80’s. Lived in sunny San Diego for most of my childhood. Grandparents gifted my father with five siblings and my mother's side with nine — imagine my family reunions! The integration of food culture cultivated Suzume’s love for community in celebration, mourning, and friendship. I am a living example of my ancestors and their values. I never thought I would be a restaurant owner, but presented with the opportunity and little experience, I took the risk. I’m learning day to day despite its ebbs and flows. I am thankful to be part of Williamsburg and its constant progression and development. What an honor to be part of it all.

A mermaid on the windowsill, a moai tucked in the corner, tropical paintings behind the bar — the details in this room weren't sourced from a design firm, they just accumulated over time, the way a real place does.
